A huge thank you to all of our incredible staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make this year’s harvest festival such a wonderful event for our community. We are also deeply grateful to our event sponsors and vendors for their generous support, your contributions help make the Shannon Air Museum (501(c)(3)) a place where the aviation history of the past inspires the next generation of aviators for the future. From all of us here at the Shannon Airport Campus, THANK YOU!

In 1950, Sidney Shannon Jr. founded what began as the vision of an aviation enthusiast with an entrepreneurial spirit: the Shannon Airport. His passion for flight was inherited from his father, Sid Shannon Sr., who co-founded Eastern Airlines alongside World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker.
From its earliest days, Shannon Airport became a landmark of general aviation—alive with airshows, fly-ins, and community gatherings that drew visitors from across the region. It was more than an airport; it was a place where aviation brought people together.
In 1970, Shannon Jr. expanded that vision with the opening of the Shannon Air Museum, ensuring that the stories, aircraft, and spirit of flight that shaped him, would be preserved and shared with future generations.

Its history dates all the way back to 1940, when this classic airliner rolled off the assembly line and was sold to Braniff International Airlines.
